Bush Survival - Using Kahoot to Create a DLO
Emily is a Year 8 student at Yaldhurst Model School. As part of the William Pike Challenge, Emily had to spend a day learning how to survive in the woods. Emily had to create a Digital Learning Object to share her learning. In her blogpost Emily tells us about how she chose to present her learning through creating a Kahoot Quiz for other students in her class. One problem Emily came across was when it came to sharing her Kahoot Quiz on her blog. As Emily had signed up for Kahoot under her email/password it recognised that she was under 16. Kahoots policy doesn't allow users under 16 to make their Kahoots public. Good to remember if you are wanting to use Kahoot within your learning environment. An idea maybe to set up an account under a room email address. Emily was happy for me to use some screenshots of her Kahoot so you can read her questions and see if you are able to find the right answers.

Fai malaga - The Journey
Izac, Toma and Collin, Year 8 students in Room 3 at Pt England School, have created an incredible Digital Learning Object to share a very special part of their learning journey at Pt England School. Fai malaga means to make a journey and in this animation/video clip, Izac, Toma and Collin talk us through the way their ancestors used the stars to navigate their waka. We then get a glimpse of the 'stars' that have navigated them through their years at school. A very powerful and Digital Learning Object that shows the creativity and innovation of our Manaiakalani learners.

Making Teaching and Learning Visible - An online CV
Clarelle Davis is a beginning teacher at Pt England School. During 2016 Clarelle has been part of the Manaiakalani Digital Teacher Academy. As part of finishing the year in the MDTA each participant had the challenge of creating a CV page to share their learning. Clarelle has created a Google Site to make her year totally visible and accessible to others. Clarelle has used a very multi-modal approach to share her learning and on her Google Site you can listen to videos of Clarelle introducing herself and sharing her reflections of the year. You can follow links to both her class blog and her inquiry blog as well as check out the Google Sites she has built to support learning throughout the year. This 'CV' is a brilliant example to share with all teachers, beginning and experienced, to provide inspiration as they move into a 1-1 digital learning environment and/or continue their journey through the pedagogy of Learn, Create, Share.
Preserving Meat - 'How to' by Park Estate School
Room 10 at Park Estate School have been learning about what life was like without electricity. As part of their learning the decided that preserving meat must have been quite hard. They had a go at making their own dried meat and tasting it. They have shared their learning, their stories and even the recipe through Google Slides on their class blog. Creating Companies @ Lake Brunner School
Over the past two terms, Ruma J at Lake Brunner School have been taking part in the online learning site - Banqer.co - 'Bringing financial education to life in your class.' As part of this learning they created a class economy. Each learners had to establish their own companies (individually or collaboratively) that offered a service to the class or school community to earn an income. Their companies included a variety of services such as cleaning the windows, sweeping stones, headphone cord untangling, collecting sports bins from the playground, as their teacher Sarah said 'you name it, someone does it!' Sarah went on to explain
Once companies were established we did some learning about the different forms of advertising and the purpose of advertising. We investigated further into logos to find out what made them effective and memorable, learning more about the power of colour etc, then they created own using whatever tool they wished-digitally or by hand. If you click on each logo it will go to their individual blog where they explain their logo.Check out their class blog to see the logos they created and and explanation of their logo.
