Playing with Patterns - Reflections of a MDTA Teacher

Chelsea Donaldson is a Year 7/8 teacher at Glen Innes School in Tamaki, part of the Manaiakalani cluster, in Auckland.  Chelsea is part of the Manaiakalani Digital Teacher Academy cohort for 2016.  In this blogpost  Chelsea reflects on her teaching of algebraic patterns and rules to students in her classroom.  Chelsea shared the hands-on process her students went through to gain understanding before creating their digital learning object to teach someone else about calculating rules for triangle and square path patterns.  You can check out the learners blogposts by clicking on the pictures below.

This is a great example of creating digital learning objects to share understanding in math.  It would also be the perfect example to share with teachers who are exploring how they can collate evidence of their teaching/reflections for both their teaching as inquiry and the Registered Teacher Criteria.
